Monpi Coffee
With headquarters based in Goroka and facilities in both Goroka and Mt Hagen, Monpi Coffee Exports Ltd has extensive coverage across Papua New Guinea’s coffee producing areas and operates at all levels of the supply chain.
Monpi’s far-reaching local industry knowledge coupled with our long-term investments enable us to provide a sustainable and transparent service to our clients. Our association with The ECOM Group further strengthens this by linking us into their global framework. Over the last number of years Monpi has worked hard to established collaborative relationships with the PNG Coffee Industry Corporation and major logistic providers in the country to improve our position in PNG.
Monpi works hard to grow its network of collective smallholder communities and singular plantations year on year. These networks extend to cover all of the coffee-producing areas in PNG. As a result, our customers can be confident in the knowledge that Monpi is constantly working to ensure optimal availability and consistency across all grades and types of coffee.
Our Mt Hagen office houses a dry milling facility. The mill sources parchment from the Western Highlands and Southern Highlands areas. In 2014 Monpi invested in a second production line to increase our milling and processing capacity in Mt Hagen and expanded to double its storage capacity.
The head office in Goroka is the centre of our presence in PNG. Monpi moved into these new premises in 2015. The state-of-the-art facility includes a climate-controlled export warehouse, administration offices and a brand new production line that has doubled our capacity and features new colour sorters. These processing facilities in Goroka give us flexibility in meeting each customer’s specific requirements for blending and grading, ensuring our continued focus on quality.
Monpi has also taken control of facilities at Kindeng (wet mill) and Ulya (a dry & wet mill) which are located in strategic positions in the Waghi Valley in the heart of “plantation country”. These mills have been completely renovated and each site now features modern wastewater facilities, the first of their kind in the country.
Peno Kavori
Monpi is privileged to have Peno Kavori, a local entrepreneur in the coffee business, as a supplier of quality green bean to Monpi. Peno is from the Lufa District, southwest of Eastern Highlands and has been in the coffee business for over 30 years. He has a dry mill located at Lufa and a fleet of vehicles that go further into the remotest areas of Lufa and Okapa to buy good quality coffee which he processes to green bean at his mill.
Peno Kavori’s coffee is marketed by Monpi as Luoka AX blend, a Plantation AX grade coffee.
Monpi is proud to have a business partnership with Peno Kavori and will continue to support his business venture in coffee.
